Novel Group

Established in Dallas, TX, Novel Group (Incorporated as McDowell Tucker & Co. Inc.) was founded by Mali Subbiah (President) in the year 1993. He completed his BE in Mechanical Engineering in India before going to Canada on a fellowship where he earned an MS degree in Robotics Engineering. In the year 1986 a Michigan based Robotics Company snatched him for his expertise in Robotics Engineering while he was doing Doctorial Studies at ‘Georgia Tech’. A very aggressive and ambitious Mali Subbiah developed knowledge in the then newly invented C++ Technologies and also worked as a Software Programmer for some time.

In the year 1993, he formed a company to provide IT Consulting and Staffing Services to various clients across the US. Being at the right place at the right time, Mali Subbiah made the best of the booming IT market then. He was very successful in his venture and earned an award for his company from Southern Methodist University in Dallas as one of the fastest growing companies in Dallas. There were also articles on him in Dallas Business Journal and SF Weekly (San Francisco’s leading Publication) on his growth and success from his business.

He ran the company until 1998 before Aztec Technology Partners, a public company, bought over the company. Mali Subbiah then ventured into Stock Market with the wealth he made during the business and from the sale of the business and once again found success in the Stock Market only to increase his net worth. In the year 2001 Aztec Technology Partners filed for bankruptcy. Mali bought back the company for less than 3% of the value he got paid just 3 years ago. He bought the company even though it was under heavy loss with a negative equity as after all this was the company which made him a millionaire from an ordinary middleman!

Mali moved all the back office operations of the US company to India and made the company P&L positive once again. He then invested money in Real Estate and bought a few properties before acquiring Vibgyor in 2006 an IT Hardware Distribution Company established in 1998. After becoming part of Novel Group, Vibgyor quadrupled its turnover from `60 Million to `240 Million. Vibgyor has an excellent client base of fortune 500 companies and now has extended its services to them in the brand name of Novel Infra, which provides Infrastructure services specializing in Turnkey Interiors.

Mali also runs a 30000 Sq. Ft. Business Center under the brand name of Novel Business Center, which provides plug and play serviced office on a per seat basis. This is the largest business center in Bangalore. He is also an Insurance Agent in the US representing all the major Life & Health Insurance Companies which earns him recurring commission every month.
